I just cannot come to terms with the fact that so many people do not have the same moral standards that I do. I do not want the government to take care of me. I want people to be accountable for themselves. To have someone in power that will do more to bring the country together, not tear us apart based on how I look or how much money I make.I just don't get it. Is this what we get with the "me" generation? Do people really live that much in a hole that they cannot see past their own little world to see the greater picture? Sigh. I guess the answer is no.
That is what has me so down: Not that my choice lost, but that so many people don't share my beliefs about what makes this country great. I feel like I don't have a country anymore, because now I am outnumbered by people who want the new Europe. A few generations pass, and memories are short, so short. No one remembers what rights and freedoms people fought for when they came here and then, more recently, when they defended this place. I fear we are doomed.
Oh gosh Mel & Cari, me too! I wonder how it is that I feel so differently from "the majority"? Why I don't begrudge wealthy people their wealth and why I don't feel the need to redistribute mine without having a say in where it goes? Why I don't think the government can take care of me better than I can take care of me? Yes, I'm also fearful of the future. And sad.

Isn't that the truth?
