At last, creative outlet

Our busy summer-of-many-changes is winding down.

I'm happy to say that I finally found a free evening to paint. The boyz were canoeing with friends, and I located my easel in the basement (it was glaring at me accusingly from a dim corner) and hauled it up to the back yard.

One fresh, white canvas + a glass of wine + some paints and brushes = a nearly finished painting and a more relaxed Mel.

I completed it in a couple of quick follow-up sittings, and then—I walked away. (It's very important to know when to walk away. I may have mentioned that already in several previous posts.)

It's good to be back in the saddle again.

(This dog belongs to a family friend who has helped us out with some arduous tasks. His name is Sam. Isn't he sweet?)

Beautiful painting Miss! I love it. Well done. Glad you got back to do some creating to soothe your soul. We all need that I think in different ways.
I miss you! We'll have to try to get together sometime after school starts to catch up.
Here we are already in the throes of footlball -- our first game is Saturday (a scrimmage).
Have a good rest of the summer. Only a little over two and a half weeks left!

Thanks, Cari! Yes, we all need that outlet. So football madness has begun already... yikes. We sent in our forms for fall ball a couple of days ago, but I don't expect it to be so vigorous. Yes, enjoy the short remainder of summer, and I would love to get together!!! That's a great outlet, too! ; ) See you soon.

What a beautiful portrait of Sam. Just amazing.

I actually was in the old office working a couple days this week and there is a new dog. At one point, I looked over my shoulder and thought I saw Sam. I guess for a moment, it was as if I had never left and everything was the same...
